Tour de Chateau Quyeras
17 May, 2007

Awsome singletrack in the Foret de Chanteloube This ride is a full day circuit starting out from the picturesque Chateau Queyras. There is 1900m of climbing on this 35k circuit, and a rewarding 1900m of descending too. It climbs initially up through the Bois du Peyron towards the Sommet Bucher before dropping back down to Molines-en-Quyeras where it crosses the road leading up to Col Agnel. From here it traverses round through the Foret de Fonteloube and then hits a fantastic singletrack descent down switchbacks into Aiguilles, the largest settlement in the Quyeras. This is a perfect spot for a lunch break in the quaint town centre.

Descending from Bucher towards Molines Traversing singletrack from Molines en Queyras towards Prats Hautes Crossing the Grand Rif torrent and heading round the Crete de Calme with the Pic de Rochebrune visable in the distance Smooth flowing singletrack with a carpet of pine needles singletrack heaven And the trail just went on.. .. and on .. .. and on

Out of Aiguilles is an uncompromising climb, initially up a steep 4×4 track but then it changes to singletrack and almost everyone will be forced to push their bike through a few of the more technical sections near the Chalvet torrent.

A nice gentle bit of climbing Dont look down

The trail then levels out a bit and the going is easier all the way to Rouet. Here the final stunning descent back to Chateau Queyras begins. This is 500 vertical meters of single track switchbacks that run all the way back to the Chateau.

The final descent had begun 500m descending awsome single track A glimpse of the fort at Chateau Queyras A few more switchbacks to go A fantastic finish to a great days riding
