Risoul Descent22 May, 2007
The ski station of Risoul sits at 1850m on the hillside above Guillestre. It is a great resort to ski in in the winter and they run a few lifts for mountain biking in the summer. Out of season though the 1000m descent from the station to the valley floor is a great ride if you can blag an uplift.
Em gave Scares, John and I a lift up on this slightly overcast, grey day. The top section of the descent is fast flowing singletrack and 4×4 track interspersed. Looking at the map afterwards we think that with a 100m push it would be possible to start a bit further over and have singletrack all the way, watch this space.
After the fast upper section there is a small leg down the road before hitting the more technical lower section. Here it is quite steep with lots of loose rocks.
At the very end of the trail it shares the same track with the Barbein circuit that we did a few days ago.
